New York, NY – Culture Project (Allan Buchman, Artistic Director) announced today that its production of Tings Dey Happen , the solo show that explores oil politics in Africa's Niger Delta, written and performed by Dan Hoyle, will celebrate the 47th anniversary of Nigerian Independence (October 1st) with a weekend of post-performance discussions beginning Friday and Saturday, September 28 & 29.

Following the performance on
Friday, September 28, an impressive list of panelists will discuss the issues raised in Hoyle's acclaimed show.  Scheduled to participate are: Vijay V. Vaitheeswaran, award-winning correspondent for The Economist and co-author of ZOOM: The Global Race to Fuel the Car of the Future ; Ashok Gupta, a senior expert in clean energy at National Resources Defense Council (NRDC); Jack D. Hidary, co-founder of Vista Research and EarthWeb; Andrew Shapiro, founder and CEO of GreenOrder, a  sustainability strategy and marketing firm; Aimée Christensen, founder of Christensen Global Strategies, a consulting firm specializing in eco-friendly business solutions and Tings Dey Happen author and star Dan Hoyle.

On
Saturday, September 29, another post-performance forum will feature a panel of African journalists from around the world discussing the play's subject matter, this time from a much more personal perspective.  Scheduled to participate are: Dr. Chika Onyeani, Publisher of the African Sun Times; Professor Chudi Uwazurike, a Senior Fellow at City College, City University of New York, Eziomano Jerry Itimi, President/Founder of "Project CONDIDIA," a coalition of Niger Deltans; Omoleye Sowore, Publisher of Sahara Reporters; Lisa Vives, Executive Director of the Global Information Network and Oyiza Adaba, a U.S Correspondent for Africa Independent Television (AIT).
